read across americaHappy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Monday, March 3rd is the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day (and Dr. Seuss’s 103rd birthday!) All day, both library locations (Cedar Mill and Bethany) will have a make-and-take craft for children to celebrate Dr. Seuss and the joy of reading.

International Folk Dance

The Library Winter Reading & Art Festival’s final event will feature a performance by Sussefusse, a Portland based international folkdance troupe, on Saturday, March 15, 1 pm.  The troupe’s name means “sweet feet” in German and is composed of young dancers nine to eighteen years of age under the direction of Heidi Vorst. Heidi has been teaching dance in Portland since 1984 and has been a folk dancer herself since 1971. Sussefusse dancers will perform in brilliant costumes representing a variety of heritages and will be accompanied by live musicians.

arranged“Arranged”

Adults, aged 18 and over. Coffee, tea and popcorn are provided, and a lively discussion follows the film.
