Public Housing Waitlist open for applicationsMonday, February 10, 8 am - Monday, February 24, 5 pm The Housing Authority of Washington County (HAWC) will accept applications for the Public Housing program between February 10 and February 24, 2020. HAWC is funded through the Federal office of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and administers several housing assistance programs that help low-income households secure decent, safe and affordable housing in Washington County. For more detailed information on income limits and other general information please go to our website at co.washington.or.us/Housing. HAWC will accept applications for the Public Housing waitlist beginning at 8:00a.m. on Monday February 10 and ending at 5:00pm on Monday February 24. Applications will not be prioritized by date, and people may apply at any point during the opening. A random lottery will be used to select 1,500 households for the Public Housing waitlist, which amounts to 500 households each for the 2-bedroom, 3-bedroom and 4-bedroom waitlists. This is not an opening of the Section 8 voucher waitlist. Only one application per household will be accepted. A random lottery will take place if more than 500 applications per bedroom size are submitted. Duplicate applications will be removed before the lottery. All applications received between February 10 and February 24, 2020, will have an equal chance of being selected for a waitlist. Applications can be submitted online at portal.WCHousingAuthority.org from February 10 to February 24, 2020. Households who are already on the Public Housing waitlist do not need to re-apply. HAWC plans to exhaust the current waitlist before serving clients who submit applications in February. Many Washington County library locations have computers with internet access available for public use during regular library hours. Information on library hours and locations with computer labs is available online at www.wccls.org/your-libraries. Reasonable AccommodationsIf you need special accommodation to submit an application, please email 2020_Public_Housing_Waiting_list@co.washington.or.us or call our waitlist hotline at: (503) 846-4532. Requests for special accommodation should be made before February 10, 2020. The application window will not be extended. There is never a fee to apply for HAWC assistance. If someone asks you for money to apply for housing, please report it to the Housing Authority. HAWC is committed to providing assistance without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex/gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, national origin, disability, age, source of income, marital status, and familial status.
