We need editors!One of the ways we are able to keep bringing you the very-local news is our team of volunteer editors. They take the raw material that’s submitted for publication each month and edit it for style and content. The current team has been with us for over a year, and it’s time to build the pack! In the past we’ve mainly worked with high-school students, but we’re open to anyone who can help. Requirements include: attention to detail; good computer and email skills; good spelling and grammar; and a schedule that’s flexible enough to meet our deadlines. An interest in writing and particularly journalism is helpful but not essential. There are additional opportunities to research and write articles, but honestly the primary need is for editors to process the Business News and Community News information we get. We use Google Docs to distribute, organize, and edit the material. Benefits include: getting the news before everyone else; helping your community; constructive feedback about your writing; experience using a style sheet to produce consistent, clear and useful stories; a great resumé item; a reference for future school or job applications; and your name in print every month!
