  • The plants in the garden depend on us for water, care, and sustenance. Gardening teaches responsibility.
  • In gardening we learn to cooperate with others, but also the forces of nature, the climate, and even the plants.
  • In gardening we learn to deal with success and disappointment.
  • Gardening can boost self-esteem and confidence. We learn that we can succeed and grow beautiful flowers from seed.
  • Gardening provides incentive to exercise both fine and gross motor skills.
  • Grow stronger mentally and physically with gardening each day.
  • The acts of weeding, cultivating, and pruning relieve feelings of tension, anger, aggression, and stress.
  • Being with plants provides a sense of place in the universe, communion with nature, and a sense of peace and harmony.
  • The sense of compassion and our instinct for nurturing are met through the care of something alive.
