Foster Care 101

Foster Care 101

Wed., May 24, 6:30 pm

With about 7,500 children in foster care in Oregon on any given day, learn about the state of foster care in Oregon and the many different ways to help foster children in our community during this National Foster Care Month event. 

Writers’ Mill author event

Sun., May 21, 1-3 pm

Cedar Mill’s community of writers, Writers’ Mill, will host member Jim Elstad, author of “Questions from the North, Answers from the South,” during the group’s monthly meeting. Jim will speak about self-publishing and why he chose the publishing venue he selected. The Writers’ Mill meets the third Sunday of each month in the upstairs meeting room. Newcomers are welcome to meet with local writers of all stripes.

Countdown to kindergarten

Tues., May 23, 6:30-8 pm

Kindergarten teacher Jeri Lyn Davis will speak on strategies to help parents get their child ready for school in the areas of academics, social/emotional, and physical. Parents will leave with the simple tools and know-how for helping their child make a smooth transition into kindergarten.
