CPO NewsCPO 1 May meetingTuesday, May 14, 7 pm, Leedy Grange Hall, 835 NW Saltzman Join us for a discussion around solutions to the Beaverton Schools funding crisis. After the current year’s $25 million in cuts due to a funding shortfall, we are facing a $35 million deficit for the 2019-2020 school year. We will begin with a slide show on the history of funding education in Oregon and Measures that were passed which affect it, along with facts about teacher salaries, PERS, and outside influences affecting school funding. Please bring your suggestions for a way out of this problem. Representatives from BSD will be there to listen, not to give us more of the same explanations. Following that part of the program, we’ll hear about the upcoming closure of NW Cornelius Pass Road this summer, from Multnomah County Roads spokesman Mike Pullen. He’s also willing to answer questions about the MC County roads in our area in general. Plan to attend the meeting, or watch it live on the CPO 1 Facebook page. It will also be available there for viewing later. Proposed development meetingsNeighborhood meetings are part of Washington County Land Use and Transportation’s process for considering development applications. Before a developer can submit a Development Application, they must hold a public meeting to discuss the proposal. Residents within 500’ of the proposed property receive mailed invitations, but anyone is welcome to attend. The purpose is to provide a forum for the applicant and surrounding property owners and residents to review the proposal and identify issues so that they can be considered before the formal land development applications is turned in to the County. The minutes of these meetings are part of the ongoing records of the development. Monday, May 6, 6-7 pm, Leedy Grange Hall, 835 NW Saltzman West Hills Land development, LLC is proposing a two-lot division of the parcel at 12085 NW Thompson Road. Short-term Rental studyWashington County will be working on a report exploring options for regulating short-term rentals of residential properties, also known as Vacation Rental by Owner. If you have experience with such properties in your neighborhood, or if you are a VRBO owner, and want to share your information with the CCI Code Group, we’d be happy to hear from you. The Code Group meets monthly to consider ongoing land use Ordinances and changes to County Code, and to put issues before LUT staff and Commissioners for future action. For more information, contact Mary Manseau, marymanseau@gmail.com. We welcome new members who want to work with us on these issues.
