Columbia Sportswear funds Cedar Mill School homework helpThanks to a generous grant of $10,000, Cedar Mill teachers will be able to continue their successful after-school homework help program at the Cedar Mill Crossing apartment complex on Barnes Road next year. Teachers are available from 4-5:30 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school year to help kids with their homework. The Cedar Mill Crossing Homework Club uses a room above the recreation area, donated by the apartment complex. “It’s really helpful because a lot of these kids wouldn’t have transportation to get home if they stayed late at the school,” says Cedar Mill principal Mark Carlton. In the past, teachers have had to volunteer to help out, but the grant will allow them to be paid for their time. Janet Hogue of the Beaverton Education Foundation made the connection with Columbia.
