At the break of dawn...

The Board of County Commissioners is currently considering Ordinance No. 777, that would regulate the keeping of roosters, male peacocks, and other male fowl known for their loud call in urban unincorporated areas of Washington County. Below is a link to a webpage with more information on this issue. The webpage will continue to be updated as the ordinance moves through the review process, which will include at least one public hearing.

If adopted by the Board of County Commissioners, the proposed ordinance would take effect 30 days after it is approved. At least one public hearing must be held prior to Board action on this proposed ordinance. Check back to this page periodically for hearing dates. Hearings may occur in mid-to-late October.
