Your opinion countsMany public agencies ask for public feedback on their projects and proposals. You may wonder why you should take time to answer surveys, participate in online “open houses,” and write to elected officials. The truth is that a very small percentage of the public responds, but those responses are noticed and taken into account by the agencies, for the most part. So your opinion does count! Here is one opportunity for you to make a difference this month.Metro Transportation FundingMetro is looking for public input through its Regional Flexible Funding for Transportation Projects online survey. Respond by October 7. The Metro Council is seeking input on how an estimated $43 million will be spent in the 2022-24 funding cycle on projects to improve walking, biking, access to transit and moving freight. Cities and counties submitted 23 proposed projects—including six in Washington County—to qualify for federal transportation funds targeted to meet these goals. The proposals add up to about $78 million, so public input will help decision-makers prioritize which projects will be funded in this process. Results from the survey will help decision makers identify which projects in Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties should receive federal funding. Take the online survey here. While none of Metro’s proposed projects are in our area, if at least some of the Washington County projects are funded, it will mean that more of our tax money can be used for our projects.
