Community AnnouncementsFamily Day at Washington County Museum Legislative Town HallState Representatives Mitch Greenlick and Chris Harker and State Senator Suzanne Bonamici will hold a Town Hall meeting from 6-7 pm on Thursday, January 28th, at the Cedar Mill Library. The Oregon Legislature will reconvene in February for a short special session. In preparation, Legislative Committees have held hearings in September and November. Family Day at Washington County MuseumThis month the Washington County Museum and Print Arts Northwest will feature holiday crafts and historical demonstrations for kids and parents at their free Family Day on December 12th, from 10 am to 2 pm. The public is invited to enjoy an array of historical education activities and craft making, including reindeer ornaments and puppets, snowmen gift bags, and print-your-own wrapping paper. A great way to get into the holiday spirit as a family, the event will also feature a historical presentation by a visiting Oregon Historical Society Tradition Bearer, Brigette Whipple. She will bring along examples of colorful Native American beaded horse regalia, talk to families about the history of the beading, and lead a hands-on beading activity suitable for all ages. During Family Day the museum’s current exhibits will be open for viewing: This Kalapuya Land, about the Native Americans of our region, Washington County in a Nutshell, and the Print Arts Northwest Holiday Show & Sale. The museum will also have an Oregon is Indian Country kid’s activity trunk available for check out to educators and community groups—please call the museum for more information. The Washington County Museum (17677 NW Springville Road Portland, OR 97229) is located on the campus of PCC Rock Creek. Parking at the museum is free. For more information, call 503-645-5353, or visit WashingtonCountyMuseum.org Holiday Tree RecyclingBoy Scout Troop 198 will be recycling holiday greenery on Saturday, January 2 and Sunday, January 3 from 9 am-4 pm. They will pick your tree up at the curb, or you can drop it off at West Tualatin View Elementary, 8800 SW Leahy Rd, or at the Forest Heights Village Center, NW Miller Rd. & Mill Ridge Rd. near Postal Annex. Suggested donation for pickup is $10/tree, $2/wreath; for drop-off $7/tree, $2/wreath. 100% of all trees & wreaths are recycled into mulch. Troop 198 was founded in 1950 and proudly serves the West Tualatin View Elementary School area and Forest Heights.
