Leedy Grange Bazaar a big success!Members of Cedar Mill’s Leedy Grange organized the first annual “Gift Locally Holiday Bazaar” at the Grange hall on Thanksgiving weekend, November 28-29. 28 vendors sold jewelry, housewares and decor, artwork, food gifts, holiday greenery and decorations, and much more to an eager crowd of shoppers. The hall was decorated for the season, with outdoor lighting on the 1903 building for the first time in anyone’s memory. As is traditional with Grange activities, the event was well supported by the community. Bales Thriftway donated a beautiful Noble fir Christmas tree and loaned a dozen tables. Copytronix printed flyers and posters that were passed out at the Cedar Mill library and other local businesses. Impact Sign donated part of the cost of the banners. Warm clothing and toys were collected for the Sunshine Pantry, and some of the toys were donated to their clients who attended the Santa Party on December 5. The Grange recently opened an account with Sunset Science Park Credit Union, and they helped get a credit/debit card processing system from Total Merchant Concepts, who were very patient and helpful in setting up the system. Nearly $1000 was raised to help Leedy Grange upgrade the kitchen and dining facilities for community events. Leedy hopes to do more to support the Local Food movement—better facilities will allow more food-related activities, such as cooking and food-preservation workshops and classes. Many local organizations use the hall, which is available to rent for meetings, parties and other events. Call 503-803-1813 or visit leedygrange.org for more information. The next big event at the Grange Hall will be an all-ages Valentine’s Day Dance on Saturday, February 13. Put it on your calendar now!
