What's happening at...?

Several projects around the community are in various stages of development. We’ll publish more details as they become available.

Milltowner Shopping Center redevelopment

Bales/Findley Property Management and their partners plan to submit their proposal to Washington County this month for the complete tear-down and redesign of the center, that was first opened in 1961. The current tenants anticipate sticking around until mid-to-late summer if county permitting takes its normal course. As soon as the application is submitted to the county, we’ll publish the dates for the comment period and more information on the Cedar Mill News Facebook page.

Peterkort work on Barnes

Many people observed equipment and workers on the Peterkort property on the north side of Barnes Road, and wondered if the company is finally going forward with a segment of its Master Plan.

The area called Valeria View Centre calls for “mixed high-density office, residential and commercial buildings.” According to company principal Lois Ditmars, the work being done now is “investigational,” and might include geological reports. They are talking to a developer, who will share their plans when they are ready.

The entire complex of properties was annexed into Beaverton in 2011. The city approved the Planned Unit Development application in 2014, and granted a two-year extension in December 2016. We’ll bring you more information as soon as it’s available.

North Bethany Main Street Open House

Mon., Feb. 26, 6-8 pm, Springville K-8, 6655 NW Joss Av.

The first Open House for the North Bethany Main Street plan will be held to give the community a chance to view the preliminary plans and submit comments. The North Bethany Main Street is an approximately 13-acre area near the center of the North Bethany community, bisected by NW Kaiser Road. The purpose of the Main Street is to provide a mixed-use commercial area within easy walking distance from surrounding homes.

An advisory committee has been meeting since October 2017 to review requirements and discuss options. Advisory Committee members include representatives from CPO 7, all the Service Districts, Polygon Northwest, and others. More information, including Advisory Committee agendas and minutes, is available here.
