Cedar Mill Park redevelopment planned

The 2008 bond measure also provided funds to redevelop Cedar Mill Park. Park design will be based on public input, regulatory factors, and park management needs.

The consultants were recently hired and are formulating the program for park redevelopment, which will likely include a multi-use field, community garden, trails, play area, and site furnishings. Construction is tentatively scheduled for summer 2013 and will take several months.

Natural areas of the park will also be restored. Please see the Cedar Mill Park -- natural area restoration bond project web page for more details.

As a prelude to the Master Planning process, surveyors have been in the park and the immediate neighborhood, marking property boundaries and utility locations, as well as conducting a tree inventory. This work started the week of March 19.

At the first neighborhood meeting, the existing site analysis and proposed design options will be presented to the community for discussion and input. THPRD has not yet set a meeting date, but park neighbors will be informed well in advance.

Park District officials say current work on the project will have no effect on this year's Cedar Mill Park concert, scheduled for Aug. 16. Featured act will be Five Guys Named Moe, a 12-piece, horn-driven dance and show band. We hope their plans will include space for the concert in the future!
