Sign up to help Sunset studentsThursday and Friday, May 14-15, Sunset High School Ann Voorhees, of the Sunset High School College Career Center, says, “It's time for our annual ‘Mock Interviews for all Juniors’ Event. We would be delighted to have you join us as a mock interviewer. Simply go to the SignUp Genius link. Available Interviewer shift times are 8-11 am or 11-2 pm. Please complete the SignUp Genius form by Monday, April 6, if at all possible, so that I have ample time to schedule students and interviewers according to availability.” The Career Center holds about 470 interviews over two days in the school library. A light lunch is provided for all interviewers. They run the interviews as if they were for entry-level jobs, to give students a close to real-world experience. Students present their resume to you during the interview. You will be asked to add check marks to a simple evaluation upon completion of the interview, and give the student this feedback. The appointments will run at about 20-25-minute intervals. Mock Interviewers do not need to be in a position to hire students, and they don’t have to work in HR. You can spend a morning, afternoon, or an entire day providing these 20-minute mock interviews. Sunset juniors are currently working on resumes. You provide the real-world relevance as the College & Career Center strives to prepare students to understand and compete successfully in the workforce. Voorhees says, “Thanks for your consideration. I know your time is valuable, and I really appreciate any effort you can make to share it with us during this important annual event at Sunset High School.” If you have questions, contact her at ann_voorhees@beaverton.k12.or.us.
