The magazine surveyed 54,000 metro area homeowners and industy experts, and 7,000 of their own subscribers, to find home/auto insurance professionals who scored highest in overall satisfaction. Peninsula Insurance management is not surprised that two of their colleagues were selected as 2011 Five Star Award recipients. "While everyone in the agency works each day to provide customers with five-star quality service, it's equally rewarding when insurance professionals are associated with colleagues sharing their emphasis on integrity and service." Said President John Timm. "Peninsula is particularly proud that Bob Rosson and Susie Ames have been justifiably recognized by the customers whose assets they help protect with superior home and auto insurance products!" Ecuador Credit Union staff visits Cedar MillNine representatives from Ecuador's San Francisco Credit Union recently visited Sunset Credit Union to learn about the latest in financial institution technology and service. Although Sunset Credit Union is one of the smallest credit unions in the United States, it was chosen because of the wide range of advanced technological services it offers its members. "Because we're small many people don't think we can offer the products and services the bigger financial institutions do," said Judy Makela, President of Sunset Credit Union. "But when you check us out, you'll be amazed at what we have. We've always partnered with great vendors who understand our members' needs and create products for us. We were one of the first credit unions nationwide to have our own free iPhone app. There are credit unions and banks ten times our size who still don't have one of these." The Ecuadorians toured the credit union and learned new ways they can better serve their members using Sunset's technology and strategies. "We were stunned at what they offer their members and how they interact with them." said San Francisco Credit Union CEO, Estuardo Paredes Lopez. "We'll be bringing back and implementing a lot of the ideas we got from them. After our session with them, it was obvious why we chose this credit union to learn about the latest technology and service advancements." Located at 1100 NW Murray Blvd., Sunset Credit Union is open to anyone who lives or works in Cedar Mill. To learn more, visit www.sspfcu.com. Toys for Tots summer literacy program at The UPS StoreThe UPS Store? located at 10940 SW Barnes Rd, in conjunction with The UPS Store locations across the country, invites you to stop by and donate to help a child in need with the Toys for Tots Literacy Program throughout the month of May! Our spring donation drive will focus on the importance of summer reading. According to the National Summer Learning Association, children can lose up to three months of learning over summer break. This “summer slide” can be even more devastating to children in lower-income families where reading scores are disproportionately affected and the achievement gap between rich and poor widens, which is why we need your support. All of the proceeds donated to the TFTLP benefits local children in need or the libraries, schools and programs that serve them. "More than 13 million children live in poverty, and with the current economic environment, we can expect that number to rise," said The UPS Store franchisee Tim Kimble. "With the Toys for Tots Literacy Program, for as little as a dollar, our customers can make a big difference in the life of a less fortunate child living in our community." The UPS Store and Mail Boxes Etc. network is the exclusive sponsor of the Toys for Tots Literacy Program. Since launching the program in March 2008, nearly $1.6 million has been raised, helping to deliver hundreds of thousands of books to less-fortunate children across the country. Mail Boxes Etc. will donate a book to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to be given to a child in the local communities for every on-line printing job submitted to The UPS Store's On-Line Printing web site in the month of May, up to a maximum of $20,000 worth of books. For more information, please visit www.ToysforTotsLiteracy.org. The UPS Store is open Monday thru Friday 9 am to 7 pm and Saturday 9 am to 5 pm. For more information, call 503-646-9999 or visit our web site at www.theupsstorelocal.com/3379 Bales Thriftway fundraiser for Japan ReliefStore Manager Vince Lucibello and Bales' employees partnered with Mercy Corps during the month of April to raise money for the Japan Earthquake relief effort. Burgers and hotdogs with all the trimmings were offered in front of the store, with all proceeds going to Mercy Corps. One afternoon, Josh Rickman came into the store with a $185 donation for the effort. It was his birthday, and he had asked his family and friends to give him cash instead of presents so he could donate it all to the relief effort! Josh is 13, and a student at St. Pius X School. "I think that what this young person has done is fantastic, and not the norm for most 13-year-old kids! I know his parents are very proud of him," says Lucibello. May is Revise Your Work Schedule monthIt is a time to consider nontraditional work schedules such as flextime, telecommuting, job-sharing and compressed workweeks. These are all great options that allow you to use your time wisely and more efficiently. Whether you can make one of these arrangements work for you or whether you need to stay with the traditional schedule, there are several things that you can do to be more productive with the hours you have. Professional organizer, Beth Giles, of NW Organizing Solutions works with people to help bring order to their space as well as their lives. She says, "The principles for organizing time are similar to those for organizing space. Evaluate what time you have and how you are using it. Reduce, keeping only what fits with your priorities. Arrange activities so they fit or flow well, adjusting what things you do and when you do them." Whether you consider a nontraditional work schedule or not, take time this month to make the most of your 24 hours by scheduling an appointment with Beth at 503-709-0791, or beth@nworganizingsolutions.com. You can also find helpful tips in the newsletters at www.nworganizingsolutions.com or by liking NW Organizing Solutions on Facebook. DVRC Spring Appeal CampaignThe Domestic Violence Resource Center provides a safe place of support, where abuse survivors can bring their children and their pets, and begin to feel empowered with the skills necessary to have safe, healthy relationships. The DVRC is the third shelter in Oregon, and one of only 35 among the nation's more than 2,000 domestic violence shelters, to allow pets. The Washington County Animal Multi-Disciplinary Team shares that, "Leaving that animal behind is as unthinkable to many of us as leaving a child behind." Giving a child or adult the one warm connection in a broken life can make an incredible difference in the lives of those the Domestic Violence Resource Center strives to serve. The DVRC has recently launched their Spring Appeal Campaign to secure the remaining $105,000 revenue target by June 30th, 2011. World of Smiles, Pediatric Dentistry is honored to support the work of the Domestic Violence Resource Center, in addition to the many non-profits and charitable foundations they work with. Dr. Stafford and the team at World of Smiles hope that you will partner with us as we work to support the families in the community we serve. World of Smiles, Pediatric Dentistry is located at 11790 SW Barnes Rd, Suite 280, Portland, OR 97225. You can reach us at 503-626-9700 or visit our website at www.visitworldofsmiles.com .
