CMBA Meeting NotesThe April 12 meeting of the Cedar Mill Business Association featured a great presentation by local resident Steve Blanton, Chairperson of Portland's SCORE office, about the many services they offer to small business owners. Visit scorepdx.org to find out more. Michael Coats had "Ten minutes of fame" to tell us about Miller Paint. He offered a counter display to the CMBA business of the month, and reminded us of the discount that Miller offers to CMBA members and their clients. The Membership Committee announced that the group will begin to meet in a new location starting in May. The Cedar Mill Bible Church has offered a meeting room at the church, 12208 NW Cornell Road. It will surely be more up-to-date than the Grange Hall, which doesn't even have a phone line, let alone wi-fi or projection facilities. The May 10 meeting will begin as usual at 11:45 with free pizza and networking. Business meeting begins at noon, followed by a short presentation by Cedar Mill News publisher Virginia Bruce introducing some of the newer "bricks and mortar" businesses that have joined us in Cedar Mill in the last few years. Caryl Hoffman of CK Hoffman Designs will have the "fame" segment. Be sure to bring your business cards to the meeting and you can be next. CMBA meetings are free and open to anyone interested in business in Cedar Mill. The landscaping along Cornell between Murray and Saltzman is not maintained by the County, so it's up to us to keep it looking nice. If you have a little time to share with your community, please join us. Tools and gloves will be provided, dress for the weather. Traffic control for median work will be provided by Washington County. 2011 Flower baskets will be installed on May 16 along Cornell Road. This year, the Garden Corner is handling both the installation and the maintenance of the baskets, which are funded from major donations by the Sunset Athletic Club and Bales/Findley Property Management and supplemented with membership dues.
