Dinihanian’s Farm Market has Hoods!

Daily 10 am-6 pm, 15005 NW Cornell Rd.

The Farm Market is now open daily to provide the freshest fruits and vegetables, along with cut and growing flowers, honey, eggs, and more. It’s been a good season for our delectable Hood strawberries, but they only have a limited supply daily, so come early for the best chance of getting in on these Oregon delights.

Dinihanians has been working hard for several years to achieve Organic Certification on their farm, and they have earned it! All the produce grown on their five-acre farm right here in Cedar Mill are organic. They also provide items from farms around the area, all local, many are also organic.

And there’s still time to sign up for their CSA. You’ll get a weekly share of produce and other great food items in season, and as local as it gets unless you grow your own!

Visit yourcsa.com for more information.

Local beef at the Farmers Market

Our recently-reelected County Commissioner Greg Malinowski raises beef cattle on his family farm on Springville Road. He brings the certified processed organic meat to the Cedar Mill Farmers Market every other week during the season, and he now offers pre-orders so you can specify what you want, and then pick it up on the market day. Just email him at gregory.malinowski57@gmail.com with your desired order, two to three days before the market, and he’ll have it ready. His next market day will be Saturday, June 21. He’s also happy to discuss County issues at the market—now that’s accessibility!

Skyline Memorial Gardens is honored to be a part of such incredible and innovative programs such as “Missing in America,” and “Hospice Pet Peace of Mind.” For more than 30 years Legacy Hospice has been caring for friends and neighbors in the Portland community. Their philosophy has always been that it is not just the patient who needs compassionate care, but each member of the family. Now, through the generosity of the Banfield Charitable Trust’s national Pet Peace of Mind program, Legacy Hospice is able to extend this philosophy of care to even the non-human members of the family. They know that the unconditional love the pets provide to their owners is priceless medicine for both patients and families living with a terminal illness.

Skyline Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home has always been focused on serving our Veterans with respect, integrity and dignity. Through the “We Honor Veterans” program, they are growing their offerings to Veterans to assure every Veteran receives excellent and personalized care. The purpose of the MIA Project is to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed cremated remains of American veterans through the joint efforts of private, state and federal organizations. MIA’s goal is to provide honor and respect to those who have served this country by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes. Dignity Memorial and Skyline Memorial Gardens is working in partnership with Missing in America (MIA) to ensure that any of the unclaimed cremated remains at Skyline that prove to be those of a US Veteran will be properly interred with dignity and respect. Virtue of the Month: Idealism

Idealism is having a vision of what is possible and wanting to make a difference. It is caring passionately about what is meaningful in life. Idealists see things as they could be and have faith in the power of change. We put our principles into practice. We don’t just accept the way things are. We dare to have big dreams and then act as if they are possible. Idealism doesn’t mean that we are idle dreamers. Idle dreamers just wish things were better. Idealists do something to make things better. We make the ideal real.

The Practice of Idealism: I have a dream. I have a plan. I have faith in the highest possible outcome. I walk my talk. I persevere. I make a difference.

Affirmation: I am thankful for the gift of Idealism. It helps me to realize my dreams.

Pet Barn’s got new stuff!

Monday- Saturday, 10-7; Sunday 11-5, 12675-A NW Cornell, just around the corner from Thriftway

Cedar Mill’s own pet supply store has recently brought in a large assortment of new pet products—toys, collars and leashes, food and health items and much more. Owner Larry Weisgerber gives the credit to their new employee, Jessica Hagemeier, who brings her experience in merchandising to the business. “I just never had time to do this kind of thing,” Larry says. Jessica started working at Pet Barn part-time about a year ago, to fill in for Manager Corky Shaw, who was getting married and needed some time off. She recently became the Assistant Manager and is working full-time. She has a background in holistic pet care, along with six+ years at Seattle’s “All the Best Pet Care” store.

They’ve brought back ‘the barn’ near the front of the store to display specials and provide educational information. They also have “beefed up” their stock of natural and grain-free food options for dogs and cats, including a large selection of frozen raw food.

New stock includes some great new chew items for dogs, toys and accessories that will make you and your pets happy, and an increased selection of pet health supplies. They’ve reorganized the store layout, so feel free to ask for a tour!

Their website—petbarnpdx.com—has been renovated too, and has some great information on the new products they carry, along with more about the business. Did you know they have a boarding service for small pets in cages? Like them on Facebook for updates and specials, too.

Santosha Yoga News

Saturday, June 21 from 6-8 pm, Santosha Yoga, 4876 NW Bethany Blvd, Suite L4

In celebration of the Summer Solstice, we are holding a special evening yoga class to practice with joy and creativity, building our own inner sun-like heat in a fun vinyasa practice, and afterwards there will be a free gathering of light appetizers to toast the longest sunshine day of the year.

During the week of July 6-12, we are celebrating four years of the Santosha Yoga studio. Each day, there will be a special class, demo, smoothies, chair massage, or other yoga and wellness activities happening. On the actual fourth anniversary, Thursday July 10, we are having a nationally-known guest class, “Go With the Flow” yoga, that includes a fantastic practice and live music.

We believe in being part of our community, and that is one of the reasons we offer donation-based classes so that yoga is accessible to all. We support others in the community through our Karma Yoga. Each weekend there are opportunities to pay a donation amount and attend either Align and Flow on Sunday mornings or Family Yoga (for kids 3 years and up with their parent/guardian) on 1st and 3rd Saturdays. All of the proceeds from our donation-based karma yoga classes go to benefit Street Yoga, a non-profit that works with at-risk, foster, homeless youth to find resiliency and wellbeing practices through yoga. For more information, visit the Santosha website at santoshaforeverybody.com
