Submit new proposals for Minor Betterments by July 15

Washington County's Department of Land Use & Transportation invites the public to propose candidates for small-scale road improvements. To be eligible for Minor Betterment Program funding, the proposed improvement must address a safety or connectivity issue on a county road.

This year's Minor Betterment Selection Committee will consider proposals received by July 15. Projects selected by the committee will be included in the fiscal year 2015-2016 budget request. Proposals received after July 15 will be added to the candidate list for consideration by next year's committee. To follow the proceedings of this committee, e-subscribe to MBP Project Selection Committee.

Minor Betterment candidates that are eligible as Urban Road Maintenance District Safety Improvements will also be considered by the Urban Road Maintenance District Advisory Committee for potential URMD funding.

Notable Cedar Mill projects on the existing list include: a pedestrian path on Filbert from Saltzman to Murray; bike lanes on Saltzman from Barnes to Cornell; many pedestrian paths on collectors including Saltzman, Thompson, Leahy, West Union and Cornell, and widening on Saltzman from Creekside to Hartford.

A list and map of previously proposed Minor Betterment candidates are available online. New candidates may be proposed by submitting an online form or by contacting the Operations & Maintenance Division at (503) 846-ROAD (846-7623) or lutops@co.washington.or.us.
