August 11 concert
Fools in Paradise, an eclectic 6-person group performing a variety of music on African instruments, will be the final concert in the library's Adult Summer Reading Program concert series. All ages welcome. Thursday, August 11, 7 PM.
The band's traditional Zimbabwean mbira (kalimba) songs will transport you to another time and place. You will love listening to this joyful, upbeat music! Weather permitting, this concert will be held outside in the plaza near the Libertine Deli.
Grant received for Digital History Project
With funding from the Oregon Cultural Trust, the Cultural Coalition of Washington County has awarded the Cedar Mill Library a grant in the amount of $2,000 to support a Digital History Project. The project will focus on capturing the unique history of the Cedar Mill Community Library Association by digitizing historical photographs and documents and by recording the stories of charter members. The digitized materials will then be freely accessible on the library's website.
Additionally, the Cedar Mill Library will partner with the Northwest Oral History Association to provide programs that inspire and teach community members to preserve their own family histories. If you are a founding member of the library and would like to participate in this project, please contact Lynne, (503) 644-0043 ext. 132, lynnee@wccls.org.
