LoggersLocal Author Recalls Tillamook Burn

Sunday, September 26, 2 pm, Cedar Mill Library

While living in Gales Creek, author Don Alanen helped the soldiers from Fort Lewis evacuate the hamlet of Glenwood, Oregon at the peak of the 1945 Tillamook Burn. The author of The Logger's Encyclopedia will share stories of the men who risked their lives and family fortune to build a young nation over the course of 150 years in the Pacific Northwest's logging, lumbering, and pulp and paper industries.

Plant Donations

As you start your fall garden clean-up, consider donating your extra plants to the Cedar Mill Library for the 2011 spring Plant Sale. Drop off plants at the Cedar Mill Library during pot recycling (see below), or make arrangements to take them to Cori's house. Need supplies? Pots and potting soil are available.  Email Dawn at dawna@wccls.org.  Many Thanks!

Recycling & Plants for Sale

Starting up again on Sunday, October 3, 2-4 pm, this service will be available the first Sundays in October and November, and then again March-May, except during inclement weather. Recycle your plastic nursery pots, good condition terra cotta and ceramic pots, and garden/nursery plants and garden tools at the Cedar Mill Library. Your donation will be used to pot up plants for the library's 2011 plant sale. There will also be a selection of perennial plants for sale—bargain priced at $4 per gallon.
