Running the cider presses has become a tradition for the scouts of Troop 208

Cedar Mill Cider Festival

Sunday, September 16, noon-4 pm, JQA Young House Park, 19th & Cornell. Cedar Mill Bible Church parking lot opens at 1 pm.

With memories of wet weather, and that one year when we had to cancel because of an approaching typhoon, we decided to move the Cider Festival to September this year, and it’s coming right up!

Presented by Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District, our annual celebration of fall and history will bring back many of our favorite elements.

Troop 208 scouts will turn the antique presses, squeezing fresh cider from 1000 lbs. of apples donated in part by Bales Marketplace, and offering free delicious cider to all who attend. Ken Findley’s press is being repaired right now in Hermiston and will be back just in time to fulfill it’s annual duty! Bruce Bartlett and Roger Finger are our cider wranglers, working with the scouts and their parents to make sure it’s good to the last drop.

Our local food truck, Retrolicious, will be back to serve a variety of fresh lunch items, so be sure to come hungry.

Lauren Sheehan and her band returns to entertain from 1-4. This year, the stage will be on the upper level and there will be room for the audience in front.

A bigger and better History Tent, in front of the historic JQA Young House, will hold a sampling of the images and displays from the Museum. Volunteers will be on hand to tell the stories, answer questions, and recruit support for the Cedar Mill Historical Society.

Community partners, and a few vendors, will offer information, activities, and interesting items for sale along Partner Alley stretching from the stage to the south end of the park.

THPRD RecMobile will be on hand with their bouncy house and other kids activities, including coloring pages created from our own historic images by our young friend, Tierney Morris.

Please note: all the attractions (except the entertainment) begin at noon, but the parking lot won’t be open until 1 pm to let the Bible Church members clear the lot. Also, all cider is to be consumed on site, as it isn’t pasteurized and so not legal to take home.
