Troop 208 crunches trees

With the passing of the holidays, Troop 208 Boy Scouts will be busy helping the community to recycle their trees through our annual Tree Recycling Crunch. Troop 208 Boy Scouts will be delivering flyers at homes in the Cedar Mill and Bethany neighborhoods this Saturday December 13, 2008.

On January 3, 2009, we will be going through the neighborhoods picking up trees. Just tie the envelope attached to the flyer with a donation onto the tree and leave your tree at the end of the driveway. We will be happy to pick it up. If you would rather deliver the tree, come by our dumpster station on January 3 located at the Stoller Middle School parking lot. Contact our dispatch on Tree Recyling Day for personal pickup at 503-758-3314.

Your supporting dollars through our tree recycling service provides boys in the Cedar Mill and Beaverton areas with a wonderful outdoor program for developing character and great citizenship while instilling strong values. Legislative town hall on identity theft

December 8, 5:30-7:30 pm
Cedar Mill Library

Every year, thousands of Oregonians are victims of identity theft. In 2007, the Oregon Legislature passed the Oregon Consumer Identity Theft Protection Act, which gives consumers more protections and rights and requires businesses to take certain steps to protect personal information.

On Monday December 8, 2008, State Senator Suzanne Bonamici will hold a town hall meeting about identity theft with experts from the Department of Consumer and Business Services.

Part 1, from 5:30-6:30, will focus on tools for businesses and will include information about document security and data breach notification requirements.

Part 2, from 6:30-7:30, will focus on tools for consumers, including how to keep your credit secure and how to put a freeze on your credit report.

Please feel free to attend either or both sessions. Bring a friend and your questions!

Our State Senator Suzanne Bonamici will hold two constituent coffees on Sunday, December 7.

The first will be at World Cup Coffee in northwest Portland, 1740 NW Glisan Street from 1-2:30 pm.

The second coffee will be at World Cup Coffee in the Cedar Hills Crossing inside Powell’s Books in Beaverton from 3-4:30 pm.

These constituent coffees offer an opportunity for constituents and community members to discuss issues in an informal setting.

Boy Scout Troop 198 Tree Recycling

There are two easy ways to recycle your tree at our two locations, West Tualatin View School, 8800 SW Leahy Rd and Forest Heights Village Center, on the corner of NW Miller Rd. & Mill Ridge Rd. on Saturday Jan. 3rd, 9 am-4 pm.

A door hanger will be delivered to all homes in both neighborhoods to let you choose from either easy home pick-up ($10 donation) or tree drop-off ($7 donation).

This annual recycling event helps fund the many educational and service activities of your local Boy Scout Troop 198. Phone 503-799-3120 for more info.
