Hiring Great Employees, Saltzman Road Project, Survey Results

During the May CMBA meeting, Roger Buskers of HR Source, an employee-leasing firm headquartered in Cedar Mill, presented information on hiring great employees. The best way to recruit is by word-of-mouth, online comes in second. The interview process is now very difficult; always conduct two interviews. Roger discussed a handout titled Interview Tips for the Interviewer. He recommends using a company that specializes in reference/background checks. We also heard from Matt Costigan, Engineering Project Manager, Washington County, on the Saltzman Road project. Saltzman Road will be widened to three lanes, have improved lighting, more sidewalks and bike lanes. The improvements will start at Cornell Road and go to Thompson Road. The first phase has funding from Cornell up to Bauer Woods Drive. Estimated timetable: In Fall, 2008 utilities will be placed and then construction will start in Spring, 2009 and will last for one year. There will be a public meeting in July.
