Buses for Bonny Slope

Last month we noted that many of the children within the normal “walking” radius of Bonny Slope Elementary had no sidewalks and thus no safe way to get to school. District policy says: “School bus transportation is provided for elementary students (K-5) who reside more than one mile from their attendance center. Transportation within the No Transportation Zones around each school is only provided in locations deemed to be unreasonably hazardous for pedestrian traffic.” The district has confirmed that bus transportation will be provided for many of the children within the normal walking radius. If those areas ever get sidewalks, bus service will no longer be provided.
