Saltzman Road Construction Update

Current Activities
-
Continue with rebar installation and form work for Retaining Wall No. 5 (adjacent to St Pius X).

Complete construction of Retaining Wall No. 4 (across the street from library).

Complete installation of new curb, gutter, and sidewalk between 128th Terrace and Bauer Woods Drive (south).

Continue installation of the new 24” water line between Kearney working south, toward Cornell Road.

Continue pulling of new conduit wires, vault and transformer connections, and transfer of services over to the new facilities. Transfer of services to the new facilities will be performed by that specific utility provider or their designated contractor.

Continue with the relocation of overhead utility lines and transfer of services along east side of Saltzman Road, north of St. Pius X to Coleman Street (work will be performed by that specific utility provider or their contractor).

Continue with the relocation of Verizon facilities along the both sides of Saltzman, between Cornell and Lovejoy Street (work being performed by Verizon or its contractor).
Upcoming Activities (2 weeks out)

Complete construction of Retaining Wall No. 5 (St Pius X) and begin backfilling behind wall.

Begin footing excavation and rebar installation of Retaining Wall No. 2 (Library).

Begin installation of new 8” water line at Filbert working south, toward Cornell Road.

Begin base repairs and grading along Saltzman, between 128th Terrace and Bauer Woods Drive (south) in preparation of base lift courses.

Begin curb and gutter installation south of Coleman Street.
The project area has been designated a construction zone and the posted speed limit has been temporarily reduce to 25 mph between Cornell and the south approach of Bauer Woods Drive. All existing traffic restrictions remain in place, including turn restrictions and school speed zone.
Work Hours: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday
Lane Restrictions: 9:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday thru Friday

Scope
This project is divided into two phases: Phase 1 is from NW Cornell Road to NW Bauer Woods Drive. Phase 2 is from NW Bauer Woods Drive to NW Thompson Road. At this time only Phase 1 has been funded and is scheduled for construction.
Scope (Phase 1)
The project includes the design, right-of-way acquisition, and construction of a 3-lane roadway (one travel lane in each direction with a center turn lane), including sidewalks, and bike lanes. Other improvements include storm drainage, illumination and utility upgrades. Also included are new traffic signals planned at NW Dogwood Street and at NW 128th Terrace.
