Frozen Jr. at Stoller

Disney’s Frozen JR. is a heartwarming adaptation of the 2018 Broadway musical, specially tailored for young performers. This enchanting story follows the journey of sisters Anna and Elsa as they discover the true meaning of love and acceptance. With beloved songs like “Let It Go,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “For the First Time in Forever,” Frozen JR. brings the magical kingdom of Arendelle to life with humor, adventure, and unforgettable music. Perfect for all ages, this production celebrates friendship, bravery, and the power of being yourself.

ACMA presents Spectacular
Saturday, May 17, 7-9 pm, Sunday, May 18, 2-4 pm, preshows with arts sales, entertainment, and games begins 90 minutes before the show, 11375 NW Center Street, Beaverton, $40, purchase tickets here.
Spectacular is the primary fundraiser for Arts & Communication Magnet Academy (ACMA), a Beaverton School District school with a focus on the arts. This show is like no other from ACMA or a BSD school. It uniquely showcases all student art programs at ACMA in storybook themes as “Once Upon a Spectacular.”
Spectacular includes performances from theater, dance, instrumental and choir music, film, written word, and 2D art programs. Pre-show beginning 90 minutes before each performance includes art sales, student sketch artists, student performances, games, and concessions. Celebrate the grand finale of the Beaverton Symphony Orchestra’s 2024-2025 season with an unforgettable concert that will leave you awestruck. The Travis Hatton Young Artist Competition winners, Michael Hsu (Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3), cellist Sarah Lee (Tchaikovsky’s Pezzo Capriccioso), and violinist Leo Trajano (Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy) are the featured performers. Also on the program, The Overture to La forza del Destino by Guiseppe Verdi and Ludwig van Beethoven’s dramatic Symphony No. 5 in C minor. Selected Shorts: A Sporting Life

I Am An American Live: Stories of Exclusion and Belonging

Storytellers Arun Storrs, Shi Choong, Vu Pham and Zarmina Ahmadi, from Vietnam, Nepal, Malaysia and Afghanistan share their experiences of what it means to belong in America, even while sometimes being excluded. They reveal how their lived experiences empowered them to drive change for themselves and their communities. Included in the program is a performance by vocalist Shivani Joshi with musicians Joseph Harchanko (strings), and Fiaindratovo (Mimy) Manavihare (percussion).

Oregon International Ballet Academy invites you to join us for our Tenth Anniversary Spring Show featuring Tchaikovsky’s beloved fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty, and a World Premiere by Ye Li. Artistic Director Xuan Cheng, Ballet Mistress of Hong Kong Ballet and former Principal Dancer with Oregon Ballet Theatre, joins forces with Ye Li to bring new life to Sleeping Beauty in an original abbreviated version featuring Aurora’s wedding. Their interpretation maintains the grandeur and technical rigor of the Petipa masterpiece, while infusing it with fresh and nuanced visual storytelling, a luminous young cast, and the elegant theatricality for which OIBA is known.

Mother’s Day Tea & Basketry with Diane Shingledecker

Saturday, May 10, 1-4 pm, $35 plus $15 supply fee, max 8 participants
Come enjoy a cup of tea and some sweets while you explore the basics of weaving a simple basket during this fun afternoon tea! No weaving experience needed. This will be basic weaving, finishing with a simple lashed rim and mini rolling pin handle. A variety of colors are available for the ribbon and sides. All material, drinks and treats included.

Woodland Animals Acrylic Painting

Select your woodland animal: eagle, deer, fawn, wolf, coyote, moose, or bear. Come discover an easy technique for creating birch trees, then reveal your animal, with Jeannine Bamberg.
Intro to Watercolor Painting
Tuesdays in May, 7-9:30 pm, $120 members, $140 non-members, max 8 students, beginner level, no prerequisites necessary

Each class we experiment with how paint, paper and water react together, then paint simple subjects using our experiments. Masterpieces are unlikely, but skills will increase. Returning students are welcome to repeat this class with Susan Pfahl. New projects and techniques presented in each subsequent series of this class.

Color Theory in Acrylics: Unlocking the Power of ColorRa

Explore the science and artistry behind color in this four-season acrylic course. We’ll dive into the true color wheel, harmonious color schemes, complimentary color mixing, and how to create depth and mood through color relationships. You’ll leave with a final piece that demonstrates your new found understanding of color, with Chel Gering.
Acrylic Poured Coasters

There are many techniques in acrylic fluid art. We will examine several and select one of them to create a one-of-a-kind set of coasters. Come and discover the magic of transforming tiles into individual works of art with Jeannine Bamberg!
Intro to Copperplate Calligraphy
Saturdays, May 17, 24, 31, June 7, 2-4 pm, $90 members, $110 non-members, max 4 students, ages 16 and up
Copperplate is the predecessor of the cursive handwriting some of us learned in grade school. It is still used for formal documents and invitations. We will become comfortable handling the pen, then tackle the alphabet, numbers and punctuation with Susan Pfahl. We will also play with flourishing.
