WCK offers Parent Series and Afterschool is Cool Contest
Washington County Kids (WCK) was founded in 2009 with the vision of a world where all children are given the opportunity to reach their full potential. Washington County is the second most populated Oregon county with over 137,549 children ages 0-17. WCK fills an important need in the county as the only county-wide coordinator serving after-school and summer programs. We are also a liaison to the county’s early learning hub.
Wapato Lake Welcome Ceremony
Wapato Lake in Gaston was a major winter home for the Atfálati band of Kalapuya Indians, the first people in the Tualatin Valley. Colonist farmers attempted to drain it and grow crops there in the early 20th century but after repeated floods, the land went to the US Fish & Wildlife Service. It became a National Wildlife Refuge and opened to the public last October.
Special Districts elections in May, filing due in March
The Washington County Elections Division has published the list of positions that will be on the ballot for the May 16, 2023 Special District Election. That list is available on the Candidate and Measure Filings page. March 16 is the last day for a district candidate to file a declaration of candidacy, a nominating petition,
