What can we do to prevent power outages?
During late December and early January, high winds and prolific precipitation put stress on large trees in the area, resulting in branches and entire trees falling on power lines and causing frequent and sometimes widespread power outages. We talked to PGE and local arborists to find out if there were steps we could take to mitigate the danger.

Erick Siffert started Exit 21 Apparel Solutions LLC, an apparel consulting company, in 2009, after 20 years working at Nike and three years at lululemon. The company moved into their office on the upper level of the new Milltowner Center last fall, relocating from Old Town Portland because it had just gotten too dangerous.

Street Tree Inventory: get involved!
Treekeepers of Washington County has begun to inventory street trees in urban unincorporated Washington County. Street trees are those that grow in the public right-of-way, in boulevard medians, and along streets without sidewalks and curbs.

Local teen heading for national competition
Abby Taylor, age 14, resident of Cedar Mill, won the title of Miss Oregon Teen Volunteer. She will be representing the state of Oregon at the National Competition in Jackson, Tennessee from March 8-12. Her platform is “Encouraging Acceptance.”
