Treelighting

Hundreds of neighbors attended our third Annual Tree Lighting on December 7! The weather held for the entire celebration—chilly and clear. The 15-foot tree was installed in the small plaza between two buildings of the Milltowner Shopping Center next to Insomnia Coffee and was generously sponsored by Bales Findley Property Management, provided by and installed by Cornell Farms, and decorated by Chris Mattocks, his family and friends.

The choirs of Tumwater Middle School, directed by Robbie Boles, and Sunset High School, directed by Christopher Rust, sang holiday melodies while the crowd ate cookies, drank cider and hot chocolate.

Those attending donated coats to the Beaverton School District’s Kid’s Closet and raised funds for their Feed My Body—Feed My Brain programs.

Without the help of our more than generous sponsors we would not have been able to have held the event. Our sponsors were: Cedar Mill Library, Cedar Mill News, Cornell Farm, Insomnia, Pet Barn, Safeway, Sunset Athletic and 77 Athletic Clubs, Sunset Credit Union, Timmco Insurance, Wildwood Tap House, Windermere Real Estate. We are greatly appreciative of our Cedar Mill Community Club volunteers, without whose help this event wouldn’t have been possible: Nancy Elder, Jan Dempsey, Lanee Hegrenes, Carl Nelson, Mark Richardson, and Janet Vanoni. Thank you so very much!
