Market of Choice (MOC) is supporting local land trusts in each of its communities! Customers can donate at the register, and MOC will match donations—up to $10,000 across all stores. In the Portland metro area, which includes the Cedar Mill MOC store, customer donations and matching funds will go to the Columbia Land Trust. The matching funds will be distributed based on the amount each store or region raises. That means the more donations a location collects, the more matching funds will go to the land trust in your area! Thank you for helping protect and restore the lands and waters that make our communities special!

Second Edition Resale is very pleased to announce that we will be open seven days a week, just like the Cedar Mill Library which we help support! Furthermore, we are now able to accept donations all seven days, during those same business hours.

We would like to thank the Cedar Mill community for their patience with our incomplete schedule for the last several years. We know it has inconvenienced you on occasion, and we hope that this change will make both shopping and donating easier and more fun.

Thank you always for your support of the Second Edition shop and the Cedar Mill and Bethany Community Libraries. We cherish being part of this wonderful community. Learn more at library.cedarmill.org/second-edition-resale.

Established in 1999, this weekly market serves as a community hub that offers fresh local produce and products, supports local farmers, and is a place to try tasty food and enjoy live music. It is a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning with family and friends, rain, or shine.

Kids can learn about healthy eating and how things grow through educational activities at our Power of Produce Kids Booth (and the kids get tokens to trade with farmers to buy fruit and veggies). The market supports families with SNAP benefits and matches up to $20 for additional produce. This market is family and pet friendly and everyone is welcome!

Cedar Mill Farmers Market is run by a small team including two part-time staff: a Market Manager and an Assistant Manager; and a Market Board that includes: Debbie Politi, Mike Nicholls, Jonella Malinowski, Greg Malinowski, Dean Moberg, Mirielle Nett, Tim Parsons, and Ron Roden. Market Manager, Karen Carroll, is celebrating her 10th market season with us and we are looking to hire a Market Assistant. Please visit our website for details.

We rely on volunteers, sponsors, and partners to help continue to bring this market to our community. We would love you to join us! It could be volunteering on market day, volunteering behind the scenes, sponsoring the market financially, spreading the word about the Cedar Mill Farmers Market, and more. Please visit our website or contact Market Manager Karen Carroll at ourcmfm@gmail.com for more details. See you at the market!

The Portland real estate market is seeing increased activity leading into the spring season, with buyer traffic climbing, inventory levels dropping, and pending sales on the rise. January 2025 showed higher buyer traffic than last year, and new listings increased from December, following historical seasonal patterns. While price reductions remain slightly elevated, they still fall within expected trends, and home prices continue to remain steady. With more inventory available than in recent years, buyers have better selections, yet rising pending sales suggest that demand is beginning to increase.

All signs point to a competitive spring market in the coming months, a market that traditionally favors sellers. Interest rates are expected to hold steady during this period, and throughout 2026, which means we are unlikely to see explosive growth, but a typical spring season for sellers before the market favors buyers again in late summer (by at least mid-July if not before).

As we move toward the end of the first quarter in 2025 there are some pretty interesting data trends to pay attention to. First, there are now more listed properties lowering their price (30.2%) than accepting offers over asking price (28.4%). Secondly, if we look at the surveys that consider seasonality of sales, we are coming into the absolute best time to sell your home! According to the National Association of Realtors, selling a home during the period of April 14-20th could net you $34,000 in additional money!

Locally, we are definitely seeing an uptick in inventory so if you want to sell at the time that maximizes your home’s value, we need to begin the conversation. Considering, it can easily take 30+ days to stage, prepare your home properly and create a strategic marketing plan that will maximize your home’s exposure, we need to act quickly to meet this timeline.

If you’re ready to take advantage of the current market’s opportunity, call, text, or email me today! With almost 40 years as a realtor, I have vast experience helping buyers and sellers with volatile markets. It would be my pleasure to meet with you, to learn your plans, and to help you navigate this transitional period. This is a very complicated real estate market, I would love to help you understand it. Contact Jan Dempsey, Realtor, Windermere Realty Group, jdempsey@windermere.com, 503-706-6358.
