Construction has been delayed on the Thompson Road Realignment due to complications with a waterline installation. The second and final Thompson Road closure is tentatively planned for May, but the exact dates weren’t available at press time. Visit the Project page for updates.

The weekday intermittent lane closures are from 8:30 am-2:30 pm to avoid impacting Findley Elementary School drop off and pick up. Our project team is working with the school administration to make sure parents have timely updates.

One way Washington County pays for roads is through the TDT which is imposed on new development to help pay for transportation needs created by the development such as road improvements, sidewalks and bike lanes. TDT rates are based on the average estimated traffic generated by the type of new development. TDT rates are automatically adjusted each year, based on a five-year rolling average of road construction, labor, and right-of-way costs. Increases are capped at 10% per year. Learn more here.

Washington County Land Use & Transportation (LUT) held an in-person Open House in April to share plans for sidewalks, bike lanes, road widening with new turn lanes, and other improvements. Maps and other meeting materials are on the Project Page. The project is in the design phase, with right-of-way acquisition expected to begin later this year. Construction is expected to take place between September 2026 and December 2027.
