Show: Tuesdays-Sundays, August 6-September 1, 11 am-5 pm

Featured Artist: Christina Meyers: Christina grew up in Northern and Southern California and moved to Oregon permanently in 1996. Family trips to her beloved redwoods, day and camping trips to the coast and along peaceful rivers, and to beautiful mountains have provided much inspiration for her art. Christina has applied her talent and skills as a successful hairdresser for over 40 years. She wanted to develop her artistic skills further, and after taking several watercolor classes and viewing numerous videos, she is well on her way to creating wonderful artwork!
Big and Bold Painting: Laura Hopper: “Garden Party,” mixed media, 22″x28″, is a multi-layered spontaneous drawing with crayon before painting with watercolor. A friend commented that she liked the way it was framed without the traditional mat used for watercolor paintings.

Each class we will experiment with how the paint and paper and water react together. Then we will paint a simple subject incorporating this “experiment” into our work. Masterpieces are unlikely, but skills will increase. No prerequisites needed. Returning students are welcome to repeat this course. New projects and techniques will be presented in each subsequent series of this class.
Explore Watercolor on Yupo with Debbie Teeter
Thursday, August 29, 9:30 am-12:30 pm, max 8 students, $45
This workshop is for those with basic color mixing skills and some previous watercolor experience. Have you wanted to try working on Yupo, but chickened out? Or have you tried it, got frustrated but are willing to give it another go? I can relate. Or are you just curious? Yupo can loosen up your technique; it’s easy to fix mistakes or simply start over. Yupo is not paper but polypropylene. It has its own set of challenges but offers unique results. I can help you get your paint to adhere and hopefully have fun exploring how to give your usual ideas a new twist. You might not finish a painting during this session, but the goal is to get you started and feel more comfortable with using watercolor on Yupo. And if you don’t like the results, you can wipe it out and start over!
