Five Oaks Museum Showcase

The Fourth Annual Museum Showcase this spring will be a lively virtual event featuring local stories, music, and art to celebrate the museum’s groundbreaking exhibitions, educational materials and programs, and the incredible community leaders who bring our work to life.
This year’s program will feature Mariah Berlanga-Shevchuk, Lead Curator of Replenish the Root, our current exhibition that celebrates the layered history of Chatakuin, the historic Five Oaks site. We will also hear from local artist, and dedicated museum supporter, Marilyn Joyce, who will share meaningful connections between the land, her artwork, and the museum. Guest Curators Lehuauakea (DISplace) and Steph Littlebird (This IS Kalapuyan Land) will pop in with updates about how those exhibitions continue to grow and reach new audiences. Did you know Five Oaks Museum members get free access for four people to different participating area museums each month? For April, we offer passes to Deepwood Museum & Gardens and the Hallie Ford Museum of Art.

Be sure to visit soon to enjoy the current exhibition, “Replenish the Root: Six Centuries of Gathering Under the Oaks” takes visitors through a layered history of the stand of ancient trees that the museum is now named after.

The Beaverton Historical Society along with the Aloha Historical Society invites you to our upcoming monthly presentation with Darrel Jabin. His talk will include exploring land claims, and how our state came to be named “Oregon.” Jabin, Oregon’s Traveling Historian, has been researching, discovering and sharing unique Oregon stories since 2009. He has created award winning videos, built a following on social media and provided over 350 presentations at communities throughout our state.
