Donuts Plus owner Joe Kim returns

Opens December 6! Wednesday-Monday, 5:30 am-1 pm, 14740 NW Cornell

After working 43 years with no vacation, Joe Kim lost his beloved wife Sue suddenly in May 2021. He needed some time off, so he sublet the store and traveled to his native country of South Korea. He visited with his son Paul, who moved there and now has a wife and two children. 

Joe decided he was ready to return to Oregon and now he’s excited to welcome his customers who are more like fans and friends. He’s hired a baker to make the donuts according to the family’s traditional recipes. His son Bell will help out, while Joe handles the front counter. 

Joe, 71, stays fit by swimming. “I plan to die in this donut shop,” he smiles. He writes inspirational books in his spare time! 

Muttley Crew closed, BarkZone takes over

Jeff Slaughter opened a grooming service inside Pet Barn, and when he outgrew that space, he opened his own business in the small building on Murray just south of Cornell. Muttley Crew gained a loyal following over the years. Unfortunately, Jeff’s health deteriorated and, faced with closing the business, he worked with the owner of Barkzone to bring on his employees and continue the brand at the Bethany location. 

Located in Building 5 at 1815 NW 169th Pl., they offer daycare, grooming, boarding, dog massage, and more. Visit the website to get the details.

Milltowner update

Behind the Smile Dentistry for Children opened a couple of months ago on the upper level of the center, near 77 Fitness. The kid-friendly space is the third for this dental group. 

EXP Salon opened in November on the lower level of the two-story section of the center, next to Mio Sushi. Enthusiastic customers of the previous location were happy to have their manicure-pedicure and other personal services located closer. 

POP Pizza located next to Wildwood Taphouse will open this month. We’ll post an update on the Cedar Mill News Facebook page as soon as we get a firm date.
