Grab your baskets and tote bags, the Cedar Mill Farmers Market is open! This season you can look forward to many exciting new vendors as well as outstanding returning vendors joining us.

Indulge in the simple pleasure of browsing through the stalls or treat yourself to a leisurely morning with a bagel with cream cheese, a steaming cup of local coffee, or a delectable lunch crafted with love from our vendors. The market is excited to offer artisan breads, handmade candles, an incredible variety of fresh produce, vibrant flowers, and more for everyone to enjoy.

A variety of musical artists will be joining us as well this season, and we can’t wait to hear them play. Even our younger visitors have something to look forward to at our Power of Produce booth, where we will have games and crafts that are both fun and encourage learning about why farmer’s markets are so great.

Volunteers needed! Our team has been working diligently preparing for an excellent market season, and we would love some help from our community. Join us in bringing this beloved market to life by lending a hand on Saturdays throughout the season. Whether you are new to the Cedar Mill community or a long-time market goer, we welcome you with enthusiasm! Volunteer orientations will be held in the market space after closing on Saturdays, May 11 and 18. Stop by either date to join us and learn how you can be a part of our market family. The countdown is on!

We are an artisanal bread bakery located in Bonny Slope. Our breads are baked by order so you will enjoy them fresh. Our sourdough bread is a labor of love, with each loaf meticulously prepared, naturally fermented, and expertly baked to perfection. The long fermentation process makes the bread easier to digest. We offer a wide variety of sourdough flavors, from the classic to unique and exciting variations. Lately, we expanded our variety of yeasted products with fresh Pocket Pitas, in addition to our signature Challahs and buns.

We are excited to update you that we will participate in the Cedar Mill Farmers Market starting on May 4. It will be great to see you! Visit our booth, and you will be able to find a variety of sourdough breads, Challahs, and buns.

To view the varieties and order bread to pick up on Fridays, visit our website or call 503-333-8043. Delivery options are also available.

Portland home buyer traffic is steadily increasing while home inventory has stabilized: consequently, home prices are climbing higher. Sellers will benefit from increased buyer competition over the coming month. Buyers should act fast before prices reach their peak toward the end of the season in late May.

Of course, looming in everyone’s mind is the recent National Association of Realtors (NAR) settlement, and how that might affect this year’s real estate market. It is important to note that nothing is expected to change (and I have seen no changes yet) until the actual rules change in July 2024. Stay tuned for more information. Right now, real estate agents are waiting for the settlement to get approved by the court—until that happens, things will remain uncertain.

The new wave of spring buyers makes this the most beneficial season for sellers. This is the usual pattern at the beginning of spring for our local housing market—when motivated sellers begin bringing their homes to market and inventory starts to rise. Each year the spring season brings increased buyer competition for a limited number of homes which keeps prices high for sellers. The number of homes with price drops has been steadily declining since December and we anticipate the trend to continue through the end of May when this year’s seller’s market begins to wind down.

Home prices (represented by price per square foot) have been increasing since the beginning of the year and have nearly matched average prices in March of 2022. The current market conditions of an increasing number of buyers competing for a low supply of homes leads to higher prices, and we expect these factors to continue to drive prices upward throughout the spring season.

I have almost 40 years of experience analyzing and helping sellers navigate our local housing market, and right now is an ideal time to list your home. The spring season is always the most active for the Portland housing market and the high volume of motivated buyers leads to shorter turnarounds and ideal sale prices for sellers.

It would be my pleasure to meet with you, to learn your plans, and to help you navigate this transition. This is a very complicated market; I would love to help you understand it. Don’t hesitate to contact me at 503-706-6358 or jdempsey@windermere.com.

As residents and staff gathered to commemorate the occasion with live music, magic, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and drinks, there was a strong sense of gratitude. The dedication to creating a warm, welcoming environment where seniors can thrive has made a lasting impact on the community. The anniversary celebration also recognized the four residents who have been with Laurel Parc since its inception 15 years ago. Their presence reflects the sense of belonging and community that Laurel Parc has worked diligently to foster. The event also paid tribute to Mary and Carrie, two staff members who have been integral members of the Laurel Parc family for 15 years. Their dedication to providing compassionate care and support has helped create a home away from home for its residents.
